Pastor Jerry L. Burghduff
Command Sergeant Major, USA (ret)
Jerry is a resident of Rome City, Indiana. He retired from the U.S. Army in 1996 after a distinguished military career of 26 years as a Combat Medical Specialist, Practical Nurse, Platoon Sergeant, First Sergeant, Chief Wardmaster and Command Sergeant Major. He graduated as an honor graduate from the Army's Practical Nurse Course at Ft Bragg, NC in 1973. He subsequently served in multiple challenging assignments throughout the world. In 1996 Jerry was inducted as a member of the Order of Military Medical Merit for his outstanding contributions to military medicine.
Jerry retired from a second career in 2014 where he worked for 17 years at Lutheran Life Villages, in Kendallville, Indiana. There he worked as the 2nd Shift Charge Nurse was very happy with his role as a nursing supervisor providing compassionate care and services to the elderly. In 2007, Jerry was appointed by Governor Mitch Daniels to the state’s professional regulatory agency where he served as secretary, vice president and two terms as President of the Indiana State Board of Nursing.
He served as a volunteer with the American Red Cross and deployed as a Nursing Supervisor to Hurricane’s Katrina and Rita in Louisiana in 2005. Additionally he performed duties as a liaison for the Red Cross’s Service to the Armed Forces and conducted pre and post deployment briefings for mobilizing service men and women and their families throughout northeastern Indiana. During this period, he served as a trained Red Cross Instructor and taught many disaster services classes in the Ft Wayne area.
After his retirement in 2014, Jerry entered ministry was appointed to serve as pastor of the West Point Trinity and Etna United Methodist Churches in northern Whitley County where he served for three years. In 2017, he was appointed and served as pastor at the Rome City and Brimfield United Methodist Churches for the past six years. He attended and completed a 5 year Course of Study at United Theological Seminary. Jerry is active in District and Conference activities and has taught numerous classes for the Northeast District Lay Academy. Jerry is also active in the Northern Indiana and Michiana Emmaus Communities and has served as clergy on several Emmaus Walks and Chrysalis Flights.
In his spare time, he enjoys reading, playing music and gardening. Jerry and his wife Barbara of 51 years (now deceased), have two children and four grandchildren and 3 great children.

Mitzi Humphrey
Mitzi Humphrey was born and raised in Hamilton Indiana. She is married to Randy Humphrey and they have two children. She enjoys spending time with all her grandchildren. She also works as a school bus driver for Hamilton Community Schools. When she is not working or spending time with her family you can usually find her at the sewing machine making quilts or other handmade gifts. She is excited about serving as your Administrative Assistant.

Beth Miller first started playing the piano when she was 6 years old. She learned to play the trombone and taught herself the organ during her middle school years. At the age of 15 she began playing for congregation singing, choirs, weddings, funerals and so on. The Church gave her the opportunity to help, plan, and witness to others through music. She and her husband (Max) live in Hamilton.

The Cornerstone Church is an independent church making disciples of Christ. For a church to function effectively and efficiently it requires the members of the congregation to give of their time, talents and spiritual gifts. Our church is blessed to have excellent leadership that works together for the good of the church and the glory of God. The following is a brief explanation of the responsibilities of each committee and their respective leaders. Missions
While the Cornerstone Church of Hamilton is involved in a wide variety of missional outreach, it is the Missions Committee responsibility to develop new ideas to connect the congregation with the unchurched. This is accomplished by having various adult and youth activities throughout the year that invite the local community into the church as well as the congregation representing the church in area events.

This committee assists pastors and staff carry out their roles and responsibilities in leadership. Pastor-Parrish duties include encouraging and supporting the pastor and staff, promote unity within the congregation, ensure effectiveness of staff members and confer with the pastor and/or staff should it become evident that in the best interest of the church there should be a change in leadership.
